REFLECTION about your topic? what surprised you?
--about writing? what steps of this process were especially difficult or rewarding for you?
--about teaching? do you see yourself using multigenre with your future students? why or why not?
Throughout this project, I did not learn much new information about my topic, just a few little tid-bits here and there. What surprised me was how little people know about such a growing disorder.
I learned that there are many more styles to writing than I originally knew. I also learned how to make my writing better. The parts of the project that were most difficult were making the Characteristics and Criteria sheets, as well as having other people read my work and critique it. These things were the most difficult, but at the same time, I feel that they made me a better writer, and in future projects I will do the same things.
I learned that teaching isn't as easy as it seems. You have to be able to teach in multiple styles within one class so that everyone can have an equal chance at learning. I have plans of becoming an English teacher so I can definitely see myself using this type of project. It offers a wide range of writing oppurtunities and it is a nice creative outlet.

=PROCESS JOURNAL
= 9/25/10 I have settled on the topic of Autism for a few different reasons. First, this is a topic that I have tremendous interest in and have researched numerous times. Second, my younger cousin was diagnosed when he was three with autism. Third, not many people know too many facts about autism. My audience will be the comp 1 class and other students as well as professors. My purpose is to educate others about autism and those who live with it. It is a complex topic, but at the same time, it is easy to understand if you are willing to learn. I will use internet articles, personal experiences, magazines, books and encyclopedias. I will probably do a powerpoint to display my info, but I can also use letters and interviews or news articles.
10/01/10 So far in my ROMP, I have made a list of genres that I plan on using or want to use. I have looked for examples and have completed the picture portion of my project. The research is getting very fun and I really enjoy this topic. I am excited to get more work completed on this project!
10/08/10 We have had the chance to look up examples of possible genres and examples of each. For my project, I have done quite a few FQI sheets. I am very familiar with this topic and this project is easy for me so far.
10/13/10 Finding new material and information is more difficult the more I look for it. I have researched many, many sites, but the information is beginning to repeat itself. I have completed 4 sheets now.
10/20/10 With 14 FQI sheets done, I am discovering that I need to look for different genres. Maybe if I look into different genres I will find new information. I have essays, newspaper articles, websites and poems. I will begin to look for pictures, diary entries and anything else that I can find.
10/25/10 We have been given time in class to do some peer review and I have found that these sessions are tremendously helpful. For the first peer review we did, I got feedback on a poem that I wrote and I have revised it according to all the suggestions that were made. My choice for genre 1 was an essay. I had very good facts and format according to my group. All that needed to be fixed were a few grammatical errors, which have been fixed. The most recent genre was a quiz on how much people know about autism. I tried to simplify questions, but my group didn't even know the answers, so I am presenting that last in my project to see how much the class learns. I also added some pictures and different colors and different fonts.
11/01/10 The genre I chose next for peer review is diary entries. I have chosen to have the more complicated genre styles shared with my peer review groups. These include more writing and more improvements to be made. This will help in the writing process. I already have four genres completed and know what I am going to work on next. As for my last genre, the quiz, I made improvements on it such as adding pictures and contrasting colors. I also changed some of the wording on my poem.
11/08/10 Today was another productive day in class. I met with two different groups. Both said that the entries I wrote were good, but that I should add more personal life information to them. I will work on that for my final project. Since I have all the major writing components of my project done, it will be easy to peer review my next genre. I will probably prepare either a bumper sticker or a movie poster for next peer review session. i am excited to get my project all finished so I can piece it together and figure out how to present it to the class.
11/10/10 As far as my project goes, I feel accoplished in all the work that I have gotten done in the last few weeks. I have completed half of my genres and I am excited to complete the remaining 3 or 4 that I plan on doing. I have a bumper sticker, movie poster, and wanted sign or timeline to complete still. The part of this project that worries me is how well I am going to be able to put the finished project together to present it to the class. I feel that I have more than enough time to finish it, but the final presentation worries me.
11/15/10 I have finished all of my genres and I am finishing up putting them all together. Originally, I was going to print everything out and use a tri fold poster as a way to present everything. In the end, I created a website. This allowed me to add my own touch to the project and create a few items online. I am still trying to figure out which information and genres I should present.
How will you present our class? To Mr. Lessnau's high school students? What will you be looking for as you watch presentations? As you read other projects?
I will present to the class by showing them the website and briefly reviewing a portion of my information. As for the high school students, they can just look through the website themselves. Everything is explained very well. As I watch presentations, I will be looking at how others present and what they say. Will it keep my attention? As I read other projects, I will look at grammar and make sure that everything flows together nicely.

Revisit your teaching attempt and your healthy meal research/presentation: How did genre, audience, and purpose figure in those processes?
The genre of this project was nonfiction. For this project our audience was the rest of the Comp 1 class, as well as Professor Sherry. The purpose was to find the cheapest and most healthy meal for 2-3 people. We had to examine which teaching techniques would fit this audience so we incorporated numerous styles.
