--about your topic? what surprised you? My topic was global warming and the thing that had to surprise me the most was that a lot of people don't believe in it. Although there is proof of it in everyday life, people believe that there is just a warming period right now just like other warming periods in our earth's past.
--about writing? what steps of this process were especially difficult or rewarding for you? It was had to get myself to realize that I was not writing as myself in a normal college class but had to break my information down to seem like 5th graders would understand it.
--about teaching? do you see yourself using multigenre with your future students? why or why not? I could see myself using some form of multi-genre's in the future but not in this form. I think it is a good way to balance out a project and present different forms of information but I think as far as due dates or topics there may be some sort of limitation. Overall though it was a good experience that I'm happy I got to experience, and will probably use it at some point for future projects.

What helps me learn is a teacher that makes me want to work.
Teachers that continually talk lose my attention and i tend not
to focus. I hate long lectures, I prefer more hands on activities.

What Topics, Genres, Audience(s), and Purpose(s) are you interested in pursuing?I am interested in pursuing a project in either the Keystone Club or Global Warming. The audience I want to focus on for Keystone would be a little younger than myself. The club only runs until teens are out of high school, and the real benefits in the work you do are prior to college. For Global Warming I would like to address everybody, because no matter the age everyone should try and work to save a place where they live. Addressing this to all age groups will also up the chances of a change being made, which is what I would want to happen. I going to pursue many different genres such as charts and graphs to show the change in the environment so far. For Keystone I would show again with charts and graphs how crime rates have gone down while grades have gone up. I think by showing pictures of the environment people will be able to realize that this is going on throughout the world and a change needs to be made. Adding in pictures of Keystoner's helping local communities will also add to my presentation.

Although a lot of people don't know about the Keystone Club, it has definitely changed and made a huge impact on thousands of teenagers lives.

Yes, I believe that as long as kids know it's there and realize what it does, it will continue to grow and help keep them out of trouble.

I'm interested because although I can no longer be an active participant, I at least want to know how the club as a whole has progressed since I left.

The Keystone Club touched me in a way I did not think was possible for a club. I started off just doing it to be active in something, but my drive soon changed. Topic Choice: Global Warming

1. How did it/will it impact the world?
It already has, icebergs are melting and sea levels are rising. The more water in the ocean and now starting to cover land the more evaporation and clouds in the sky, more clouds means excessive rain which we have already seen. There have been more flooded and there getting worse each time. Our summers are hotter and our winters are cooler, it's already impacting the world.

2. Why is there still interest in it today, or why will there continue to be interest in it?
There will continue to be an interest in this topic because it is not a topic that can be easily fixed overnight. It's taken years to do this damage and it'll take years to fix it, if it can even be fixed.

3. Why are you interested in researching this topic?
I'm interested because I want to have a healthy and successful live. I want to be able to live as long as my grandparents did and not have to take things for granted because they were wasted or used up by previous generations. I want to make sure than not only me but everyone else is listening and taking an active role in trying to help our planet earth.


4. How do you personally connect with this topic?
My family does practice being eco-friendly options but the main reason would have to be that I'm only 18 and I'm going to be here for a while. I want to be able to, like every other generation, live a life where I don't have to worry about the results of what may happen because for hundreds of thousands of years people haven't been taking care of the world. I'll do my part in volunteering or reducing my uses but not one person can fix this on their own.

I will definitely watch the movie Al Gore came out with a couple years ago. The movie brings up a ton of topics most people in America are oblivious too. I will also use books, as well as magazine articles and interviews with scientists and their future predictions.

I know that I'll be able to find more information about Global Warming because it is such a relevant issue that effects everyone in the world. Keystone on the other hand is a teen club and although they do a lot of work with people all around the world, it isn't as widely known or as big of a concern as Global Warming is.

2. Of your two topic choices, which one do you really like the best? Please explain.
I would have to say that I like the Keystone Club the best. Being a former Keystoner, I like to spread the word and get kids involved in something that I truly enjoyed as a teen. Someone had told me about the club and that I should join it, and it literally changed not only the way I view people but the world as well. It helped bring me out of my shell and allowed me to make memories as well as meet people I would've never guessed me being friends with. I would like all children to go through the experience I did which is why I like this topic the best.

How did genre, audience, and purpose figure in those processes?

These three things influence my Meal Plan in all different ways. Genre would have to be under reality because unlike some other cooking shows my group told where we purchased everything, how much everything cost, and how healthy it was for the body. This "reality" aspect benefitted our produced that we were trying to convince people was the best, because it told the truth and had information to support it. The audience was the class as a whole, and we made our presentation colorful and made sure it would catch the eye of every student in the room. The purpose of the project was to show people that it is possible to get a cheap meal that is healthy. There is no need to run to McDonalds or any other cheap fast food restaurant, because the meal you are waiting for is located just at your local supermarket.

Today I was able to teach my boyfriend how to do the laundry. I think the two learning styles that best appealed to how I taught him would be Linguistic and Interpersonal. Linguistic came first because it was easy to talk him through it while I was doing it as an example, as well as talk him through it while he was trying it on his own. The other style that seemed to work was Interpersonal. I was able to help him with issues he had such as identifying where the soap was inserted, knowing where to swipe your card to pay for your load, as well as giving him words of encouragement that he could do it. The strengths of teaching him were by him watching me go first than he was able to duplicate most of what I had done. It was nice because he was not scared to ask for directions more than once, so I believe they will stick in his head for future reference. A struggle that did erupted is that he constantly forgot what I had showed him. I would have to repeat steps for him and he was getting very frustrated. Him constantly forgetting what came next allowed for more of an Interpersonal style, in that we were constantly communicating until he was able to get the message clear in his head.The evidence that proved to me that he had actually learned to do laundry would have to be the fact that at the end of the whole process, he was able to review the steps to me verbally on his own. The verbal reciting proved the Linguistic part of the lesson, and proved the ability to talk through and use language as a teaching style. Although I knew at this point that he knew the steps verbally, I made him put in another load on his own shortly after. He talked through the steps he remembered as he did them physically.This physical part was like the Interpersonal style of teaching, in that I was able to stand beside him and realize all the problems we had solved to finally get to this point where he actually got it. It was nice to see the course it had taken to get to that point at the end though. All the repetition I had to do in the end paid off, and he now knows how to do his laundry.

Taking the Multiple Intelligence Survey was really interesting. For my personal survey, I had three that scored fairly high. When reading the descriptions I realized that the three of them make up who I am. The one talked about being there for others support them and how to use what you have and appreciate yourself. I Believe those listed are all things that do describe what I am today, and what i strive to be one day for my future students. The next one was about inspiring others to work for a common goal as well as communicating clearly what needs to be done. This is something else that I believe needs to be done to be a successful teacher. Although they somewhat describe me now, they are a reminder of what I still need to achieve. the activity was interesting to see how much information is gathered about you just by a couple questions.

So far I have done three of my seven or eight genres. I'm almost positive I have picked how I will present my project as a whole but am finding it a little harder as I continue with my genres. I need to figure out ways to apply my genres to fit in with my project in the end. Through the peer reviews I've been able to fix some of my ideas but i still think there are more that I'm not 100% sure about. Hopefully by revising my old genres, I'll be able to get new ideas for the new ones.
